BRCA JeneScreen Genetic Screening Program

Important details

No. The test is done on DNA from cells inside your mouth. You will be mailed a swab kit which will include instructions to wipe the swab on the inside of your cheek. Anyone found to have a gene fault will have a blood test to confirm the result.

Results will be available approximately three months after the sample is returned.

Results will be given in two ways.

Most people will receive a negative result by email.

However,  people found to carry a BRCA gene fault will be informed of their results through a phone call.

Anyone who is concerned about their family history of cancer, is welcome to discuss this further with our genetic counsellor.
