JeneScreen BRCA testing program (Sydney)

Welcome to the JeneScreen BRCA testing program

This program will give you information about the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, and how they are relevant to our Jewish community.

Until now, testing for faults of these genes has been done through hospitals, and has been directed to those with a personal or family history of breast or ovarian cancer. This program has been developed to offer BRCA testing online (with DNA collection kits sent in the mail) to people of Jewish ancestry (men and women) who live in Sydney at NO COST.

Online genetic testing is a new development, so for now, participation in the program is through a study conducted by the Hereditary Cancer Clinic at Prince of Wales Hospital and the University of New South Wales. If you choose to participate in the program, you will be asked to complete some online questionnaires, so we can evaluate the program.

Please be aware that there is a substantial amount of information to read, before you can consent to undergo the test, so please set aside some time (approximately 1 hour) for you to progress through the website.

If you have a personal or family history of breast or ovarian cancer and prefer to be tested through our hospital service, please contact our co-ordinator, Dr Nicole Cousens on 02 9382 5188.

This is currently only for Jewish people who live in Sydney.
If you live in Melbourne and are interested in undergoing BRCA testing please go to www.jenescreen.com.au
